Patio Reno!
Today we started our patio tear-out and covered deck install. We will replace our brick patio with a deck that stretches into the yard, and Rick's building a porch that will keep out the sun and have a fan and even...MISTERS OH I KNOW YOU'RE JEALOUS.
This means waving goodbye to a few plants that were already dying in this Texas heatwave, and to balance that botanical karma a few will probably thrive now that they will be shaded. But it also means enjoying the back yard again and hopefully being able to plant things that actually grow.

Before pics below...after to follow soon...
Ugly brick patio with lousy edging and dog-mangled flower bed.
Side of patio with flagstones, tree that dies and bush that lives.
Half the yard is stones--now half of that will be curvy deck.
Patio will cover French doors and window to the left (I think?) and the oddball pine tree goes. It never fit in, and I think all the other trees laughed and called him names.
